I've worked in shoemaking since 1978. I learned from my older brother and passed what I could on to 1,730 apprentices.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I'm usually the first one in and the last to leave.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
