Citra Gita Lie
Master of weaving, now teaching apprentices
- 🇮🇩 Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia
- Surakarta Shop
- Since 1991
- English, French
I've worked in weaving since 1991. I learned from my mother and passed what I could on to 700 apprentices.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I always make time for a proper cup of tea.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Citra: A gift would go toward tools for apprentices who can't afford their own.
