I coached chess at London Youth Club from 2017 to 2025. Most of my players were between 9 and 14, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I wrote a short note to every student at the end of term.
More about Carter
Some of my former players now coach their own teams, which is the best thank-you I could ask for.
