Carlos W. Ortiz
Youth chess coach and mentor
- 🇺🇸 Laredo, Texas, United States
- Fairview Community Club
- 1996 to 2022
- English
For 26 years I ran the chess program at Fairview Community Club in Laredo. We trained 4 evenings a week, whatever the weather.
My best seasons were the ones we lost most games and still showed up every Tuesday.
More about Carlos
Some of my former players now coach their own teams, which is the best thank-you I could ask for.

You coached me in 1999. I still hear your voice on the sideline. Greetings from Cairo.
