My trade is tiling. I opened my own shop in 1989 in Nairobi and I'm still there most mornings.
The best compliment I ever got was a customer who called me back 24 years later for another job.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
More about Akello
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Akello: A gift would go toward tools for apprentices who can't afford their own.
