Weekly meals for families and seniors in Sherbrooke
The Community Pantry pantry in Sherbrooke is running low just as demand rises; $2,350 will stock it for 7 weeks.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Saturday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 23 families, and now we feed 105 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 48% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 13 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Sherbrooke market and keep every receipt.
Each $50 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $2,350 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $720
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,050
• Baby formula and diapers: $430
• Refrigeration and electricity: $150
With deep gratitude,
Rekha

Is there anything that isn't money that would help Rekha?
Thank you. If you're in Sherbrooke I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Thanks, that means a lot.
Wishing you the best, Rekha. Your post was clear and honest. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
Thinking of you, Rekha. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Thinking of Sherbrooke.
