The roof at Rashed's home is failing; materials are donated and we need hands.

I'm a night-shift nurse living in Gazipur. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 4 places, and the living room is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $340, which isn't something I can pay. The good news: a local hardware store has donated the corrugated iron sheets and timber. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for anyone handy who can help over two Saturdays. Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is work boots and a hat. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks. The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too. Glad we found this place.

A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from São Paulo

    • Sending good thoughts, Rashed. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'm in teaching myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.

      • Thinking of you and your family. Rent stress is the worst. Hope this helps. It's not much but it's yours. Love from New York.

        • I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. I'll check back for the next update. Thinking of Gazipur.
