Volunteers needed to fix a leaking roof for John in Chicago
John, a home-care aide, needs a few skilled and unskilled helpers for a 2-weekend roof repair in Chicago.

I'm a home-care aide living in Chicago. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 2 places, and the kids' bedroom is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $6,250, which isn't something I can pay.
The good news: a local hardware store has donated the tiles and battens. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for anyone handy who can help over a weekend.
Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is work boots and a hat. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks.
The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too.
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Thanks for sharing this, John. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. I'm in engineering myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.
