Juliana is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying an electrical engineering diploma at Santos State College, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a tutor to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,050.
The registrar has said Juliana can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Juliana has a 3.6 average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Juliana would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
