Volunteers needed to fix a leaking roof for Allison in Los Angeles

Could you spare three weekday mornings to help repair a leaking roof in Los Angeles?

I'm a home-care aide living in Los Angeles. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 4 places, and the bathroom is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $4,650, which isn't something I can pay. The good news: a local hardware store has donated the roofing sheets and nails. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for three or four volunteers who can help over three weekday mornings. Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is work boots and a hat. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks. The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too. Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

  • Sending strength. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.

    • Best of luck, Allison. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Put this on a community board in São Paulo this morning.
