I live with an amputation below the knee. My occupational therapist at Bristol General Hospital has assessed me and recommended a pair of hearing aids. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $3,050.
My current equipment is 11 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 3 weeks.
With the right equipment I could go to school independently. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $3,050 goes:
• pair of hearing aids: $2,400
• Fitting and training sessions: $280
• Delivery and set-up: $75
• First-year servicing plan: $295
