Valve repair surgery for Serena: covering what insurance won't

Serena was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in September. The surgeon at Saint Mary Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,250, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $2,600 short.
my wife has been in and out of Saint Mary Hospital since September. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Serena struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Serena won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
