Valve repair surgery for Julien: covering what insurance won't
After an aortic valve defect, Julien was cleared for valve repair surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Julien was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in August. The surgeon at Saint Mary Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,750, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $4,650 short.
my father has been in and out of Saint Mary Hospital since August. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $5,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Julien struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Julien won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
