Valve repair surgery for Débora: covering what insurance won't
After osteoarthritis in the right knee, Débora was cleared for valve repair surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Débora was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in June. The surgeon at Guarulhos General Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,500, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $1,050 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Guarulhos General Hospital since June. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Débora struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Débora won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
