Davi was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in April. The surgeon at Guarulhos Orthopedic Institute recommended valve repair surgery, and He is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,650, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $1,000 short.
my father has been in and out of Guarulhos Orthopedic Institute since April. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,650 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Davi struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Davi won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
