Valve repair surgery for Birgit: covering what insurance won't

Birgit was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in August. The surgeon at Augsburg Community Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $10,500, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $5,250 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Augsburg Community Hospital since August. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $10,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Birgit struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Birgit won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
