Clean streams for New York: restoring Pioneer Beach
Help us clean and replant Pioneer Beach before the October planting window closes.
🇺🇸 New York, New York, United States402 views
Pioneer Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 102 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 133 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $185
• Waste removal and skip hire: $500
• Tools and protective gear: $315
Thanks for being kind about this.

Thanks for sharing this, Asher. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Wish I lived closer to São Paulo so I could bring a meal. God bless
Hang in there. Looking forward to the next update. Wish I lived closer to Muzaffarpur so I could bring a meal. Blessings.
Sending strength. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
Take care, Asher. Shared it with a few friends
Keep going, Asher. More neighborhoods should do this.
Keep going, Asher. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected
Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I have a 17 year old who wants to send good wishes too. God bless.
