Two weekends of roof repair for Jakob, a disabled veteran in Hamburg

Jakob, a disabled veteran, needs a few skilled and unskilled helpers for a 1-weekend roof repair in Hamburg.

I'm a disabled veteran living in Hamburg. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 2 places, and the bathroom is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $1,650, which isn't something I can pay. The good news: a local hardware store has donated the corrugated iron sheets and timber. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for a small crew who can help over three weekday mornings. Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is to be comfortable with heights or willing to help from the ground. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks. The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too. Thank you so much.

  • Hang in there. I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. I went through something like this 2 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Hamburg.

    • Wishing you peace. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Love from Ballarat.

      • Thinking of you and your family, Jakob. Shared this with my family. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

        • Thinking of you and your family. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My neighbor in Galway donated after I showed her your page. Blessings.

          • Thinking of you, Jakob. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. We're a small family in Dwarka but we're thinking of you. Greetings from Dwarka.
