The roof at Hani's home is failing; materials are donated and we need hands.

I'm a home-care aide living in Yogyakarta. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 3 places, and the living room is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $570, which isn't something I can pay. The good news: a local hardware store has donated the tiles and battens. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for a small crew who can help over two Saturdays. Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is to be comfortable with heights or willing to help from the ground. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks. The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

your post was clear and honest. After 25 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Thinking of Yogyakarta.

thinking of you and your family, Hani. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't give up

      • good luck, Hani. This could happen to any of us. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Take care.
