Two weekends of roof repair for Avery, a disabled veteran in San Diego
Could you spare two Saturdays to help repair a leaking roof in San Diego?
🇺🇸 California, United States949 views
I'm a disabled veteran living in San Diego. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 2 places, and the kitchen is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $3,600, which isn't something I can pay.
The good news: a local hardware store has donated the shingles and underlay. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for three or four volunteers who can help over two Saturdays.
Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is sturdy shoes, gloves and a willingness to work. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks.
The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too.
Thank you so much.

Good luck, Avery. I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it
Praying for you, Avery. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did.
Keep going, Avery. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. All the best.
a secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. Please keep us posted. All the best
