I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a teaching qualification at Wudil Polytechnic, and I'm two terms away from graduating. I have worked as a barista to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $700. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a top-ten-percent average, and my faculty supervisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $700 goes: • Final term tuition: $220 • Outstanding tuition balance: $450 • Textbooks and materials: $30 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people. - Joy

      • Hope things get better soon, Joy. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't be hard on yourself for asking

        • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Wish I lived closer to Recife so I could bring a meal. Blessings

          • Thinking of you. This could happen to any of us. My husband and I read this together
