After fleeing Afghanistan, the Tesfaye family has arrived in Los Angeles with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

Los Angeles
My family left Afghanistan 12 months ago after the conflict closed our school and clinic. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Los Angeles. We're a family of seven and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in October. I was a shopkeeper in Afghanistan, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $4,850 goes: • Rent deposit and first month: $2,100 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $1,400 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $730 • Language classes and bus passes: $490 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $130 Every share and every dollar helps. - Avery

  • Thanks for sharing this. Shared this with my family. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Blessings

    • You're not alone. Looking forward to the next update. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Blessings.
