For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer community hall, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,600. It will serve about 119 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $2,600 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $165 • Materials: $2,100 • Tools hire and delivery: $335 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Aurora

Updates from Aurora

  1. 76% there. I made the first payment toward safety equipment and signage. Thank you.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 59% now ($1,534). I'm honestly stunned. we've started the first stage.

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($1,374 in total) we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
