Mihret was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in July. The surgeon at Addis Ababa Community Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,350, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $800 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Addis Ababa Community Hospital since July. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,350 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Mihret struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Mihret won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
