Shivam was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in February. The surgeon at Chennai General Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $870, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $650 short.
my son has been in and out of Chennai General Hospital since February. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $870 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Shivam struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Shivam won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
