The Petrenko family fled Afghanistan - help them rebuild in San Jose
After fleeing Afghanistan, the Petrenko family has arrived in San Jose with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

My family left Afghanistan 12 months ago after the war reached our town. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in San Jose. We're a family of seven and we're safe, but we arrived with very little.
Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in December.
I was a teacher in Afghanistan, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well.
We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months.
All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent).
Where the $2,000 goes:
• Winter clothing and school supplies: $530
• Beds, table and basic furniture: $880
• Language classes and bus passes: $590
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Good luck. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't give up. Thinking of San Jose.
