Seongnam

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Jacaranda bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $740, and the remaining cost is $2,450. It will serve about 531 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $2,450 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $310 • Materials: $1,900 • Permits and inspections: $240 Thanks for reading all this. - Yoon-ah

Updates from Yoon-ah

Good news. Because of your gifts ($306 in total) the plan for materials is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely. - Yoon-ah
Update from Seongnam: I made the first payment toward permits and inspections. We're at 15% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
