The old Cedar bus depot needs a skate park - Joyce's neighborhood project
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a skate park - we need $300 for materials.
Anywhere in the world1,296 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Cedar bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $300.
It will serve about 271 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $300 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $60
• Materials: $170
• Safety equipment and signage: $70
Thank you so much.

Hope things get better soon, Joyce. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
Sending love, Joyce. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I went through something like this 14 years ago and strangers helped me out. Greetings from Lagos.
Keep going. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Please keep us posted.
Hope it all works out, Joyce. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. It's not much but it's yours. Blessings.
