The Karimi family fled Myanmar - help them rebuild in Addis Ababa

After fleeing Myanmar, the Karimi family has arrived in Addis Ababa with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

My family left Myanmar 10 months ago after we were targeted for our work. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Addis Ababa. We're a family of seven and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in December. I was a mechanic in Myanmar, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $500 goes: • Phone and internet for school and job search: $25 • Rent deposit and first month: $250 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $145 • Language classes and bus passes: $80 Thank you so much.

Best of luck, Yeshi. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Take care.

                    • Best of luck. This could happen to any of us. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Love from Patras.
