Gulu
My family left Ethiopia 11 months ago after the war reached our town. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Gulu. We're a family of six and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 3 months of rent, and that support ends in January. I was a shopkeeper in Ethiopia, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $500 goes: • Phone and internet for school and job search: $30 • Rent deposit and first month: $370 • Language classes and bus passes: $65 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $35 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot. - Githinji

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Githinji.

    • Phone and internet for school and job search is $30 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Thanks, that means a lot.

  • thanks for sharing this, Githinji. Gave what I could, wish it was more. God bless!

    • Thanks for sharing this, Githinji. Looking forward to the next update. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. God bless
