The Acacia vacant lot needs a youth football pitch - Gita's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Jakarta Barat are raising $500 for a youth football pitch at the Acacia vacant lot.
🇮🇩 Indonesia790 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $500.
It will serve about 333 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $500 goes:
• Materials: $440
• Safety equipment and signage: $25
• Tools hire and delivery: $35
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

sending strength, Gita. This could happen to any of us. Take care.
how is Gita doing now?
Thanks for sharing this. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. After 25 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Thinking of Jakarta Barat.
Sending strength, Gita. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
You're not alone, Gita. I hope things turn around soon. Sent it to 3 people at work.
wishing you the best. Looking forward to the next update. I went through something like this 14 years ago and strangers helped me out.
