Tenant-rights advice for Ayanda in Cape Town: a short consultation
Looking for housing-law advice in Western Cape: a 40% rent increase with a 30-day notice.

My landlord in Cape Town has given me a 40% rent increase with a 30-day notice. I've read what I can online, but the rules are confusing and different sources contradict each other.
I'm hoping that someone with experience in housing or tenant rights in Western Cape could spare 20-30 minutes to explain the process, the deadlines and the documents I should collect.
I have my lease, all communications and photos organized. I'm happy to share them privately. I can't pay for a lawyer, so any guidance on free services in Western Cape would also be appreciated.
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

thinking of you. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Sent it to 10 people at work. Thinking of Cape Town
wishing you the best. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. All the best.
So sorry you're going through this, Ayanda. Shared this with my family. I hope October is when things finally get easier. God bless
good luck, Ayanda. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I'll check back for the next update. Blessings.
stay strong. It takes guts to ask. Well done. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
