Marlon was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in January. The surgeon at Spanish Town Orthopedic Institute recommended a craniotomy, and He is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,550, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,800 short. my husband has been in and out of Spanish Town Orthopedic Institute since January. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,550 is more than we can find. While we wait, Marlon struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Marlon won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
