Markus was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in February. The surgeon at Saint Matthew Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and He is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $9,250, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $6,500 short.
my father has been in and out of Saint Matthew Hospital since February. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $9,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Markus struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
