Ballarat
Ezekiel was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in March. The surgeon at Ballarat Orthopedic Institute recommended ACL reconstruction, and He is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $7,000, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $5,500 short. my son has been in and out of Ballarat Orthopedic Institute since March. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $7,000 is more than we can find. While we wait, Ezekiel struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Ezekiel won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $5,500 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,050 • Travel and lodging for the family: $420 • Post-operative medication: $320 • Hospital stay (5 nights): $2,710 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
