Crystal was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in August. The surgeon at Birmingham Community Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,250, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $4,900 short.
my mother has been in and out of Birmingham Community Hospital since August. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Crystal struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Crystal won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
