Christina was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in August. The surgeon at Thessaloniki Regional Medical Center recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,400, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $2,700 short. my sister has been in and out of Thessaloniki Regional Medical Center since August. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,400 is more than we can find. While we wait, Christina struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Christina won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
