Stop the eviction: 3 months of rent for Kipchoge's family in Arusha
The closure of the factory left Kipchoge short on rent for 3 months; help us stay in our home.
🇹🇿 Tanzania2,125 views
When my hours were cut in half in February, I fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Wednesday a termination letter was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $550.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by May, we must leave.
I've 3 children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working two part-time jobs, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $550 goes:
• Utilities in arrears: $30
• Late fees and court costs: $35
• Rent arrears (3 months): $485
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Updates from Kipchoge
Small update. $116 so far, I made the first payment toward utilities in arrears.
18% there. I made the first payment toward rent arrears. Thank you.
Update from Arusha: I met with the landlord and confirmed the amounts. We're at 4% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

how is Kipchoge doing now?
Good luck, Kipchoge. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I'll check back for the next update. Take care.
Good luck. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
Thinking of you and your family. Hope you get there. All the best
Hang in there, Kipchoge. I hope things turn around soon. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry
Thanks for sharing this. Looking forward to the next update. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Greetings from Augsburg.
