Stop the eviction: 5 months of rent for Elias's family in Melbourne
A notice to vacate arrived last week. Elias needs $4,650 to clear the arrears and stay housed in Melbourne.

When my hours were cut in half in June, Elias fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Friday a notice to vacate was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $4,650.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by September, the family must leave.
There are three school-aged children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Elias has started working night deliveries, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.

• First month of rent as a buffer: $1,050
• Utilities in arrears: $150
• Rent arrears (5 months): $3,450
