When the packaging plant closed in August, I fell 4 months behind on rent. Last Friday a court summons for non-payment was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $3,700. My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, we must leave. I have three school-aged children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. I have started working evenings as a cleaner, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent. Where the $3,700 goes: • Rent arrears (4 months): $3,000 • Late fees and court costs: $105 • Utilities in arrears: $155 • First month of rent as a buffer: $440 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Philippe

Sure. The biggest one is rent arrears (4 months), $3,000. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Let me know if you want more detail.
