Stop the eviction: 2 months of rent for Sanjay's family in Mumbai
A final eviction notice arrived last week. Sanjay needs $700 to clear the arrears and stay housed in Mumbai.

Following a long illness in the family, I fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Sunday a final eviction notice was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $700.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, we must leave.
I have two young children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working two part-time jobs, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $700 goes:
• Rent arrears (2 months): $470
• Late fees and court costs: $25
• Utilities in arrears: $40
• First month of rent as a buffer: $165

Rooting for you. Shared this with my family. Put this on a community board in Rohini this morning.
It takes guts to ask. Well done. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Paris
Hope things get better soon. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My sister had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Take care.
Take care, Sanjay. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. I hope October is when things finally get easier. Thinking of Mumbai
Hang in there, Sanjay. Hope you get there. Please keep us posted. Blessings.
hope it all works out. Shared it with a few friends. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. All the best.
Keep going. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'll check back for the next update. God bless!
Thinking of you. I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. I went through something like this 11 years ago and strangers helped me out.
