Stop the eviction: 2 months of rent for Malathi's family in Aurangabad
A car accident left Malathi short on rent for 2 months; help us stay in our home.
🇮🇳 India1,517 views
After a car accident that kept me from work for 4 weeks, Malathi fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Wednesday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $550.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by August, the family must leave.
There are three school-aged children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Malathi has started working weekend shifts, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $550 goes:
• Rent arrears (2 months): $350
• Late fees and court costs: $50
• Utilities in arrears: $40
• First month of rent as a buffer: $110
With deep gratitude,
Ramesh

Sending love. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. Thinking of Aurangabad.
take care, Ramesh. I hope things turn around soon. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Blessings.
Best of luck. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Take care.
Keep going, Ramesh. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from San Francisco

So sorry you're going through this. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I have a 10 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Thinking of Aurangabad.
Hope it all works out. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. All the best.
Looking forward to the next update. Put this on a community board in Bonny this morning. Blessings.
