Stop the eviction: 2 months of rent for Janet's family in Sheffield

When my hours were cut in half in June, I fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Saturday a notice to vacate was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $2,050. My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by September, we must leave. I have three school-aged children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. I have started working extra hours at a market stall, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent. Where the $2,050 goes: • Rent arrears (2 months): $1,650 • Utilities in arrears: $220 • Late fees and court costs: $180 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Janet
