Stop the eviction: 2 months of rent for Birgit's family in Cologne
After a delayed insurance payout, Birgit is 2 months behind on rent and has a termination letter from the landlord.

When my hours were cut in half in August, Birgit fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Saturday a termination letter was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $1,100.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by December, the family must leave.
There are a teenager still in school at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Birgit has started working night deliveries, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• First month of rent as a buffer: $600
• Utilities in arrears: $230
• Late fees and court costs: $270

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. first month of rent as a buffer comes first ($600) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Good question.
