Start-up fund for Payal: reopening a laundry service after a long illness and repossession
Payal lost two washing machines and a dryer to a long illness and repossession and needs $400 to reopen a laundry service and support the family.

For three years I have run a laundry service in New Delhi. In April, a long illness and repossession took two washing machines and a dryer. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Sunday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 6 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $400 goes:
• Shop repairs and licensing: $35
• Initial stock: detergent and packaging: $85
• Replacing two washing machines and a dryer: $280
Thanks for being kind about this.

You're not alone. Small businesses are the heart of New Delhi. Hope you're open again soon. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Greetings from Cairo.
is there anything that isn't money that would help Payal?
Thank you. If you're in New Delhi I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Thanks, that means a lot.
Keep going. I'd happily buy from you once you're back up. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected
thinking of you. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I went through something like this 11 years ago and strangers helped me out
