Start-up fund for Joyce: reopening a tailoring shop after a storm that collapsed the roof
Joyce lost three industrial sewing machines to a storm that collapsed the roof and needs $3,200 to reopen a tailoring shop and support the family.

For nine years I have run a tailoring shop in Southampton. In August, a storm that collapsed the roof took three industrial sewing machines. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Tuesday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 6 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $3,200 goes:
• Replacing three industrial sewing machines: $1,950
• Initial stock: fabric and thread: $340
• Shop repairs and licensing: $510
• Working capital for the first month: $400
Thanks for reading all this.

Hope it all works out. Looking forward to the next update. After 9 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care

Stay strong, Joyce. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it
You're not alone. Small businesses are the heart of Southampton. Hope you're open again soon. I have a 10 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Thinking of Southampton!
