Start-up fund for Jocelyn: reopening a bicycle repair shop after a fire in the building
A bicycle repair shop in Makati needs help replacing a full set of tools after a fire in the building.
🇵🇭 Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines1,952 views
For nine years I have run a bicycle repair shop in Makati. In July, a fire in the building took a full set of tools. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Saturday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 5 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $700 goes:
• Initial stock: spare parts: $115
• Shop repairs and licensing: $75
• Replacing a full set of tools: $510
Thank you for reading my story.

praying for you, Jocelyn. I hope things turn around soon. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
You're not alone. I'd happily buy from you once you're back up. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
Thanks for sharing this, Jocelyn. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We're a small family in Aurangabad but we're thinking of you. Thinking of Makati!
Thanks for sharing this, Jocelyn. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I went through something like this 10 years ago and strangers helped me out.
