Standing with Sun-woo: thyroid cancer treatment costs
12 rounds of treatment are planned at Rockford Regional Medical Center; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.

Sun-woo was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in June. The oncology team at Rockford Regional Medical Center has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in August. He will be away from work for about 12 weeks.
Sun-woo is 53, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Rockford Regional Medical Center 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $13,050 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $8,250
• Scans and lab work: $1,100
• Transport to Rockford Regional Medical Center: $1,000
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $900
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,800

Sure. The biggest one is chemotherapy and medication not covered, $8,250. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Fair thing to want to know.
