Palate reconstruction surgery for Walter: covering what insurance won't
Walter needs palate reconstruction surgery at Riverside Community Hospital and the family is $1,350 short of the hospital's estimate.
🇺🇸 Riverside, California, United States972 views
Walter was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in August. The surgeon at Riverside Community Hospital recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,800, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,350 short.
my father has been in and out of Riverside Community Hospital since August. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,800 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Walter struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Walter won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $1,350 goes:
• Travel and lodging for the family: $250
• Physiotherapy sessions: $670
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $430

you're not alone, Amelia. This could happen to any of us. Sent it to 15 people at work. God bless
Wishing you the best, Amelia. I hope things turn around soon. We're a small family in Obuasi but we're thinking of you. Blessings
Best of luck, Amelia. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I have a 11 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Blessings.
