In August I was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. My oncology team at Medellín Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in November. I was told to expect about 4 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 43, I worked as a primary school teacher until August, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Medellín Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $2,500 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,050 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $155 • Scans and lab work: $295 Thank you for reading my story.

Updates from Ricardo

  1. Small update. $82 so far, the plan for chemotherapy and medication not covered is now scheduled.

  2. 5% there. the plan for scans and lab work is now scheduled. Thank you.

  • everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I went through something like this 13 years ago and strangers helped me out. Take care.
